With the $500,000 Cider Program under the Commonwealth Government’s Export & Regional Wine Support Package (ERWSP) nearing completion, it is timely to provide an update on the resources being developed to assist Australian cider producers to identify and break into key export markets.

A crucial element of the Cider Program was the development of the Australian Craft Cider Brand Proposition and the 100% Australian Grown trust mark. These are valuable initiatives to bring together the Australian Cider Community and will benefit export efforts as well as building understanding in the domestic cider market.

Brett and Jess from Wine Australia will provide an update on the final phase of the Cider Program, the development of a Go-To-Market Strategy. This consists of three components:

  1. Detailed in-market analysis of five target export markets
  2. Export Market Guides outlining the demographics, regulatory environment and importation requirements for each of these markets
  3. Guidance on how to apply the Brand Proposition and trust mark in each of these markets.

Robin Shaw from Wine Tourism Australia will present a 60 minute workshop on cider tourism. Robin is a facilitator for Wine Australia’s Growing Wine Tourism program which assists businesses wanting to take a more strategic approach to developing their wine tourism products and services for the inbound tourism market. Robin will talk about creating memorable experiences that fit your target market, and outline the resources that are available to you through the Growing Wine Tourism program.

CEO of Choice Energy Christopher Dean will discuss energy use and opportunities to improve sustainability in your cider business. Choice Energy has worked extensively with food and beverage businesses to help them use less energy from the grid and pay less for the energy they use. In recent times Choice Energy has been working closely with independent brewers and will share some insights on how brewers are saving money and reducing their impact on the environment.
